  • 28 oz crushed tomatoes (preferably San Marzano)
  • 4 cups low-sodium chicken broth
  • 2 tsp Italian seasoning
  • 2 cups small pasta (e.g., shells or elbow macaroni)
  • 15 oz ricotta cheese
  • 2 cups shredded mozzarella cheese
  • Fresh basil leaves (optional)

Instructions

  1. In a large pot over medium heat, brown the ground beef. Drain excess fat. Add chopped onion and minced garlic; sauté until fragrant.
  2. Stir in crushed tomatoes and chicken broth. Bring to a simmer.
  3. Add Italian seasoning, salt, pepper, and pasta. Cook until pasta is al dente according to package instructions.
  4. Remove from heat and stir in ricotta cheese until well combined.
