  • 2 cans (5 oz each) high-quality tuna packed in water, drained
  • 8 oz elbow macaroni
  • 1 can (10.5 oz) cream of mushroom soup
  • 1 cup frozen peas (no need to thaw)
  • 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese (divided)
  • 1 cup plain breadcrumbs
  • 1 medium onion, diced
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1/2 cup whole milk
  • Salt and pepper to taste

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. In a skillet over medium heat, sauté onions and garlic until translucent (about 3-5 minutes).
  3. Cook elbow macaroni in boiling water until al dente. Drain and set aside.
  4. In a large bowl, mix drained tuna, cooked pasta, cream of mushroom soup, frozen peas, sautéed onions and garlic, milk, salt, pepper, and half of the cheese.
  5. Pour the mixture into a greased 9×13 inch baking dish. Spread evenly.
  6. Top with remaining cheese and breadcrumbs; drizzle with melted butter if desired.
  7. Bake for 25-30 minutes until bubbly and golden brown.
