- 1 egg (beaten) for egg wash
Instructions
- Prepare the dough by mixing flour and cold butter until crumbly. Gradually add water until a soft dough forms. Wrap in plastic and chill for at least 30 minutes.
- Roll out the chilled dough on a floured surface into a thin rectangle (about 1/8 inch thick).
- In a bowl, combine sliced apples with sugar, cinnamon, lemon juice, and breadcrumbs.
- Spread the apple filling evenly along one edge of the pastry rectangle. Fold over the edges and roll tightly into a log shape.
- Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C). Place the strudel seam-side down on a parchment-lined baking sheet and brush with egg wash. Bake for 30-35 minutes until golden brown.
- Let cool slightly before slicing and serve warm, optionally dusted with powdered sugar or alongside vanilla ice cream.
